"If we don't sell it, we'll drink it" was one of the favourite phrases of the founders of Monte Xanic and much to our surprise, we had the same thought as starting the project of what now is Uvas de México. 

When friends Eric, Hans, Manuel, Ricardo and Tomás started this fundamental Mexican wine estate in 1987, they had a common dream: to place Mexico's flag in the world's wine history by making premium wines. However, it was a time when nobody imagined that this was possible in Mexico. Thus, Dr. Hans Backhoff Escudero, one of the founders and the winemaker for 30 years, became a pioneer in the industry by creating the first Mexican premium wine.

Monte Xanic is born from dedication, patience, and a friendship that moves mountains. It is one of the wineries that built the current Mexican wine industry and it is considered the Mexican winery with the most technological infrastructure in the country. Monte Xanic has revolutionised the industry with its quality standards and innovative processes.

Monte Xanic encompasses 6 ranches in Baja California. Today, this beautiful hillside teems with life, from the soils of Valle de Guadalupe to the native ecosystem of Valle de Ojos Negros. Cooled by the Pacific breeze, this place has proven to be ideal not only for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but also for white selections of Chenin Blanc and French Colombard.
